Gary Chapman has been a professional photographer based in Castlemaine, Australia for 20 years. Living in a small country town enables him the luxury of photographing many varied subjects and locations and he has always maintained a passion and commitment to his own personal work, accumulating an impressive body of mainly Australian Landscapes. The only choice of camera for the landscapes he shoots is the PANORAMIC format, simply because their angle of view is the only thing that enables him to express his own original visualizations. He has always been drawn to expansive subjects and vistas and enjoys illustrating the depth and perspective which can be exploited through the use of the panoramic format. His appreciation of the glorious lighting of early morning and late evening is never more evident than in the beautifully composed images you will see on this site. Living in rural areas all of his life, a lot of Gary's work revolves around those precious sights which can only be seen by "taking the backroads". Gary excels at being able to transform the ordinary and commonplace into images of beauty and curiosity, and while he appreciates the more iconic images most people have come to think of as "Australian", he challenges us all to see the beauty that is just out the road.
